CFO-level guidance without a CFO-level salary

Take control of your finances with expert guidance: better accounting processes, cash flow you can see coming, and decisions made on data rather than instinct.

Ooda Consulting provides fractional CFO services to Australian SMEs from Sydney. An experienced management accountant works in your business on the finance questions a bookkeeper does not answer: which jobs made money, what cash looks like in ninety days, and whether your last price rise covered the cost increase.

Your accounts are accurate and still not useful

Invoicing in Xero, reporting in spreadsheets, maybe a legacy system handling part of the accounts. Teams switch between three or four tools just to get a basic view of where they stand. The result is double handling, errors and inconsistent reports.

Even when the numbers are right, nobody can tell you which jobs made money, what cash looks like in ninety days, or whether the last price rise actually covered the cost increase. That's not a bookkeeping failure. It's a different job, and it usually doesn't get done until something goes wrong.

What we do

01

Cash Flow Management

A forward view of cash that updates as things change, not a snapshot from last month.

02

Management Reporting

Live dashboards for cash flow, overdue invoices and P&L, built around the decisions you actually make.

03

Strategic Planning

Budgets you can hold people to, scenarios modelled on accurate data rather than guesswork.

04

Accounting Process

Reconciliation, bank feeds and approvals set up so the month-end scramble stops.

05

Systems and Automation

Automated invoice reminders, recurring billing and scheduled journals, so the finance team works on insight rather than paperwork.

06

Commercial Finance

Margin, pricing and cost analysis across products, jobs and customers.

Most SMEs are not short of financial data. They are short of someone who turns it into a decision before the month is over. Reports earn their place when they answer the questions the business is actually asking.

Common questions

What is a fractional CFO?

A qualified CFO working in your business part-time, usually a day or two a month, rather than as a full-time hire. You get the judgement without the salary, and the engagement scales up or down as the business needs it.

How is this different from what my accountant does?

Your accountant reports on what happened and keeps you compliant. A fractional CFO works on what happens next: forecasting, pricing, margin, and the decisions that depend on them. Most SMEs have the first and not the second.

Do I need to be on Odoo to use this?

No. The CFO work runs on whatever system you have, including Xero or MYOB. Where the reporting is being held back by the systems themselves, we will say so, but changing the system is a separate decision.

At what size does a business need a fractional CFO?

Usually somewhere past $2m turnover, or earlier if the business is complex, growing fast or carrying debt. The trigger is normally a decision nobody can answer with the numbers to hand.
