A quality system you use, not one you produce for auditors
ISO 9001:2015 is usually pursued because a customer or tender requires it. That doesn't mean it has to be a paperwork exercise nobody reads.
Ooda Consulting takes Australian SMEs through ISO 9001:2015 certification and keeps them certified between audits. The quality records are captured inside Odoo as the work happens, so the evidence exists by default rather than being reconstructed before each audit. Michelle Carey holds ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor certification.
Documentation that describes a process nobody follows
Most implementations produce a document set that satisfies the auditor and changes nothing about how work happens. Six months later the procedures describe a process that's moved on, and the next audit becomes a scramble to reconstruct evidence.
The alternative is building quality into the system people already use, so records accumulate as a by-product of doing the work rather than as a separate job.
How we do it
Gap Analysis
Where you are against ISO 9001:2015, and what actually needs to change.
Documentation
Procedures written to match how you work, not generic templates.
System Integration
Quality records captured in Odoo as work happens, so evidence exists by default.
Internal Audit
Audit programme set up and run by a certified lead auditor, findings tracked to closure.
Certification Support
Preparation for external audit and support through it.
Ongoing Maintenance
Compliance maintained between audits through process documentation and review.
A quality system earns its keep when the evidence builds up as the work happens. If certification means writing procedures nobody follows, the business pays for an audit and gets nothing back. We build the system into the tools your team already uses.
Common questions
How long does ISO 9001:2015 certification take?
Usually three to six months from gap analysis to external audit, depending on how much already exists and how quickly decisions get made. Businesses with documented processes already in place move faster.
Do we need ISO 9001:2015 to win tenders?
Often yes. Most government and large-enterprise tenders in Australia either require it or score it. That is the reason most SMEs start, and it is a legitimate one.
Can we keep our existing procedures?
Yes, where they describe what actually happens. Procedures that describe a process nobody follows are the main reason quality systems fail their second audit, so those get rewritten rather than certified.
Does Ooda issue the certificate?
No. Certification is issued by an accredited certification body after an external audit. Ooda prepares the system, runs the internal audit programme and supports you through the external audit.
